​Ronnie Chatterji is an economist and tenured professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and Sanford School of Public Policy. His expertise is in business strategy, entrepreneurship, socially responsible investing, and the intersection of business and public policy.

Ronnie served as a senior economist on the White House Council of Economic Advisers during the Obama Administration. He worked on policies to strengthen our national economy, which resulted in tax cuts for small businesses, greater access to capital for entrepreneurs, and investments in economic development in North Carolina and across the nation. He has advised multiple Presidential and U.S. Senate campaigns on economic policy.

Ronnie is an appointed member of Governor Roy Cooper’s Entrepreneurial Council. He also serves on the NC First Commission, a bipartisan group tasked with developing a long-term strategy to guide transportation investments in our state.

He has a proven record of turning innovative ideas into smart economic policy. He has helped family-owned businesses in North Carolina as well as Fortune 500 companies grow and thrive.

Ronnie was previously a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and worked as a financial analyst. He served as a Fellow for the Center for American Progress. He was also a visiting professor at Harvard Business School.

​Ronnie received a “Rising Star” award from the Aspen Institute and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Prize Medal for Distinguished Research in Entrepreneurship. He was recognized as a “Top 40 under 40” business school professor by Poets & Quants and has received multiple teaching awards.
