Danny Couch of Hatteras Island is unopposed for re-election to the District 4 seat on the Dare County Board of Commissioners. He is a lifelong resident of Dare and has been involved in the Democratic Party off and on since high school and actively since 2000. Danny brings a heart for all people of our shores and a wealth of knowledge of the history, heritage, social traditions and inner workings of county government to be one of the hardest working members and most knowledgeable on the board. He pledges to continue that sense of public service and a willingness to work in a bi-partisan manner for the continued success of Dare County as "the goodliest land under the cope of Heaven..."
Issues Danny Cares About
Danny was appointed as Chairperson to head up the bi-partisan College Of The Albemarle Task Force in 2017/2018, in light of his effectiveness serving 2 terms on the Dare County Board of Education. The task force paved the way for the hospitality and tourism, trade work force, and COA’s college transfer associate degree programs and general education course curricula to which Dare County has committed an initial investment of $15,000,000 up front to ensure the future at COA’s Roanoke Island Campus. He was also out front with the Dare board on the $250,000 Dare Guarantee Scholarship program.
Danny is sensitive to the financial contribution that the Cape Hatteras National Seashore National Park makes to Dare County’s overall financial health. He has formed a balance between the needs of sustaining the ecological vitality of Dare’s environment with a vibrant, thriving economy for our visitors and high quality of life for residents.
