Issues Danny Cares About

Danny was appointed as Chairperson to head up the bi-partisan College Of The Albemarle Task Force in 2017/2018, in light of his effectiveness serving 2 terms on the Dare County Board of Education. The task force paved the way for the hospitality and tourism, trade work force, and COA’s college transfer associate degree programs and general education course curricula to which Dare County has committed an initial investment of $15,000,000 up front to ensure the future at COA’s Roanoke Island Campus. He was also out front with the Dare board on the $250,000 Dare Guarantee Scholarship program.

Danny is sensitive to the financial contribution that the Cape Hatteras National Seashore National Park makes to Dare County’s overall financial health. He has formed a balance between the needs of sustaining the ecological vitality of Dare’s environment with a vibrant, thriving economy for our visitors and high quality of life for residents.

He is an outspoken advocate for keeping our beaches as a NO DRILLING zone!

Dare County has committed itself to long-term maintenance of our beaches county-wide. He is  one of the representatives for Dare County on the American Shoreline and Beach Preservation Association and the North Carolina Beach and Inlet Waterways Association. Danny will be one one of the charter recipients of ASBPA and CZF’s Certified Coastal Practitioner (CCP) designation, a rigorous 3 year program focusing on coastal engineering and science and federal/state/local government affairs.
Danny has endeavored to raise his profile on the predominant GOP make-up of Dare’s Board of Commissioners through a tireless work ethic and relationship-building efforts. He has a skill set built through years of experience with a “respect everyone” attitude, verbal and written communication capabilities and establishing rapport as an OBX ambassador in the NC General Assembly, US Congress and White House Administration.
